BioSmart Launches Science-based Bedding Products in Vegas

First FDA-cleared Pillow for Snoring and Sleep Apnea
Innovative Mattress Construction to Aid Sleep

BioSmart Sciences, Inc. debuts clinically proven products in the pillow and mattress categories that are designed to improve sleep during the Sacramento-based company’s inaugural home furnishings trade show, in space C-1564 of the World Market Center, Jan. 28 – Feb 1.

Following a highly successful test through a national retail chain, BioSmart launches its Bios Anti Snore/Anti Sleep Apnea Pillow – the first pillow to treat snoring and sleep apnea cleared by the U.S. FDA – in the company’s new showroom here. Product benefits claims are backed by three clinical tests conducted at the Stanford University Center for Human Sleep Research. A patent is pending for the Bios pillow, which has a suggested retail price of $129.95.

Top sleep doctors at Stanford University developed and administered protocols for independent trials in which test subjects with snoring problems experienced a 78 percent reduction in snoring events, and an 86 percent reduction in the duration of such events. The same tests showed a 24 percent reduction in symptoms of mild obstructive sleep apnea.

BioSmart’s Bios mattress line, also launching at the Vegas Market, consists of six styles in standard sizes that have suggested retail prices between $1499 and $4499. The company’s manufacturing technology is patented, with underlying science-based designs originating in the precepts of anatomy, physiology, bio-mechanics, osteopathy and pressure analysis. Memory foam is not used because of excess body pressures, mal-alignment, and heat buildup which that foam produces.

Along with the proprietary construction, mattresses feature four to six performance layers that include latex in some models, as well as two-way stretch covers that won’t “trampoline” or restrict performance.

BioSmart’s Bios mattresses were additionally tested in clinical trials to reveal improvements in vital Delta and REM sleep, with subjects showing a significant reduction in nighttime tossing and turning by up to 75 percent, as compared with competitive products tested. Notably, there were significant reductions in neck, shoulder, back and hip pain, as previously reported by subjects. Reduced pressures on the shoulder, hip and back produced more refreshed awakenings and next day performance.

BioSmart plans to launch two posture- and health-related products later this year. In the Vegas showroom, 6 styles of Bios chairs, engineered for improved body support, will additionally be on display, with suggested retail prices between $399 and $599.

Next Generation-NOW Hosts Breakfast, Retailer Panel Discussion and Bash During Las Vegas Market

The Next Generation-NOW (NGN) group will host three events during the Winter Las Vegas Market: a networking breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by an educational Retailer Panel Discussion on Monday, January 28 and the NGN Bash, on Tuesday, January 29.

The Retailer Panel Discussion on Monday morning, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the RRC, C-496, will focus on Multiple Generations = Many Opportunities. Panelists from Royal Furniture and Ivan Smith Furniture will share their ideas and experiences of working within multi-generational family businesses. All attendees are invited to enjoy a hot waffle breakfast at 8 a.m. prior to the panel discussion. “The panel discussion features a great team of successful retailers, who have also been longtime friends. The discussion will focus around family business practices and the importance of industry relationships,” said NGN Education Committee Chair Amy Schmidt. “These third generation storeowners will share all of their successes, and stumbles, of running their family businesses. It will be a great discussion for anyone who is involved in a family business!”

The semi-annual NGN Bash will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the One-Six Club on the 16th Floor of Building B. Sponsored by Coaster, the NGN Bash will have attendees “rolling the dice” while networking, enjoying hors d’oeurves and drinks. This year’s Bash has been extended to give all attendees plenty of time to enjoy the Casino Night festivities and build new industry connections. “The NGN committee has been hard at work planning this bash and doing some things we’ve never done before. We wanted to take this event to a whole new level!” said NGN Event Committee Chair Sara Wedding. “We went all out with bringing in a DJ, having games and giving away one of three all-expense paid trips to the 2013 HFIC.”

During each NGN event, participants have the opportunity to drop off their business cards and be entered to win one of three all-expense paid trips to the 2013 Home Furnishings Industry Conference, June 2-4 in New Orleans, LA, “We are so grateful to have Ashley Furniture Industries committed to this group as well as the Home Furnishings Industry Conference,” added Alex Macias, NGN Marketing Committee Chair. “As our benefactor sponsor, Ashley clearly understands the connection between the Next Generation-NOW group and the next generation of their customers. Ensuring that NGN members attend industry education and have the opportunity to network with top 100 retailers is essential to their future and the future of their business. Ashley’s generous backing will allow young professionals to immerse themselves much earlier and easier.”

Be Social with R&A Marketing—Retail Furniture Marketing Firm Introducing New Social Media Service and Contest

R&A Marketing is launching a new service titled “Just Be Sociable with R&A Marketing.” This service includes options of complete management and execution of a retailer’s Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and Foursquare accounts. Plus, there is a reputation-monitoring tool available that helps track what the online and social world are saying about a retailer.

“We realized that the whole social media arena was growing at a faster pace than our clients could keep up with,” said Kevin Doran, Vice President and co-owner of R&A Marketing. “It’s important that we stay ahead of the game and offer the best services to our clients.”

In celebration of R&A’s new service, they are hosting a social media sweepstakes: #BeSocial. Whether they want to pin, tweet or like anyone has the opportunity to enter this sweepstakes. What is at stake? A chance to win up to $1,000 at the one place they shop at the most. Whether it is clothes, food, charity, business services, hardware or just a generic gift card, they name it and they might just win it. For every 250 people that enter, the amount of the sweepstakes giveaway gets larger.

“We wanted to show people the impact of social media,” said Doran. “Social media is about sharing stories, experiences, photos, etc., so why not have a contest where the more you share the more you could win?”

Currently, R&A Marketing manages over 100 Facebook pages for furniture retailers across the nation. Their new service, Just Be Sociable with R&A Marketing will help businesses dive into the social media world with effective, easy and fun online social networking management services. R&A Marketing knows how confusing it can get with all the social media resources out there. It’s not just enough to simply create a website, Facebook page or Twitter account and expect your fans to become paying, loyal customers. R&A can help furniture retailers manage their social media to grow their business through social media management and development.

R&A Marketing has developed easy-to-use tools for all social media outlets that will help retailers grow their business. With Just Be Sociable retailers will have the resources they need to compete in the social media world. Vision9.1 at the Summer 2012 Las Vegas World Market

STORIS, a leading supplier of Retail Solutions and Services proudly announces that it will preview its latest retail business software, Vision9.1, at the Summer Las Vegas World Market.

Many enhanced features of this newest retail application were designed to ensure the customer’s expectations, established during the point-of-sale phase, culminate into a valued experience through product delivery. “This multi-channel software release focuses on enhancing the sharing of real time inventory control, purchase order, and logistics information with all the point of sale touch points,” noted David Berger, Director of Product Management. “As consumers are becoming more sophisticated with their shopping techniques, retailers need to raise their ability to instantly provide a wealth of accurate information that is supported with premium service value.”

With this newest application suite for retailers, from within an individual POS software entry point, or a logistical delivery scheduling touch-point, users can immediately start to view all crucial delivery information. This includes delivery calendars by postal code and routes, real-time delivery cutoffs by deliveries scheduled, merchandise on transfers and/or purchase orders, number of times a customer rescheduled, delivery truck/freight company assignments and other essential details.

For scenarios of being able to provide a customer with a courtesy update on their order, a retailer’s service personnel can view and precisely track in-transit activity of incoming shipments. This is accomplished because Vision9.1 multi-channel design displays linked document numbers, quantities, shipping dates, lead times, and acknowledged delivery dates to the sales and service team based on activity entered by a merchandise buyer, or updated via a web transmission from the manufacturer, freight company, and/or distributor.

Vision9 gives salespeople the confidence the sale will be executed seamlessly because they know their logistics and delivery teams will provide superior service. Regardless of the POS engagement touch-point, the customer will perceive value from that retailer because their questions are answered quickly with precise information and their delivery expectations are being fulfilled.

See Vision9.1 at the Las Vegas World Market, July 30th to August 3rd, at the WHFA RRC, Booth #17-18.
